Stud

Our stud is developing every year, offering new products and improving the quality of our colts and fillies. We are linked to the specialization in different types of coat colours for our Pura Raza Español colts in order to extend our international area of business and to grade the national horse. We started our activity in 1988, using dark-bay and dappled-grey brood mares. Afterwards, we included black ones and, nowadays, we are focused on dun horse breeding — a very demanded type at present— with excellent products. The process consists on a daily control of brood mares and their states in order to pair them with the most suitable stud horse. Then, we take care of the gestation thanks to the ultrasound scanning and the veterinarian controls — depending on each case. Eventually, we control colt’s growth. Following colt’s sale or breaking-in is a separate process which will be carried out by the professional workers of the riding school. They are in charge of colt’s evolution and breaking-in in the most suitable discipline for each one. You can see our horses for sale in the Catalogue. Below, some images from our Stud. A Symbol

Lorenzo Ortiz’s breed uses this figure, which represents a letter “L” and a letter “O”, because of his initials. This is the brand of the stud, a mark which our colts and fillies have as a link with the stud in which they have born. A curiosity about it: colts have the brand in left side and fillies, in the right one. Every year since the foundation of the stud in 1988, we use it to brand the specimens which have born that year (when they have been weaned). Once they are branded, colts and fillies are let gone of in our meadows until the moment of starting their breaking-in —around two years later.

Our History

Las Cadenas riding club and stud was found in June, 1988. Since then, we have been breeding the specimens born there. The Pura Raza Española horses are the most numerous and the ones to which a great care is dedicated. They are examples of quality which are born from our brood mares and stud horses, year after year. We already have 14 broods. However, we also have horses of different races at our disposal. By this way, our stud is a complete offer to anyone who is interested in horsemanship world: you could find crossbred and tame horses or even great jumping horses and very skilled ones at dressage.

Clavijo 1

Clavijo is one of our stud horses. The majority of our colts are its sons. It gives them its strenght and the colour of its coat colour, the dun one. It was born in Albacete, in 1994 and it has been at Lorenzo Ortiz’s stud for almost 10 years. Clavijo is a high level qualified horse which makes its owner enjoy, not only by the riding but also as the main stud horse in his stud.

Especial IV

Description of the supplieThis spectacular and unusual horse honours its name, which was given to it in Galicia, the area where it was born. It is young —born in 2002— and it is still inexperienced in dressage. However, its descendants inherit its coat colour and its marvellous morphology and movements, some features which also characterised it and turn it into another magnificent stud horse for us.
